A Neighborhood Tradition!

The Fairfax Villa / Cavalier Woods neighborhoods have been displaying Luminaries for many years.  They provide a wonderful holiday spirit to our neighborhood and promote unity among all our residents.  We invite you to participate by displaying your Luminaries.

The tradition of Luminaries started in Mexico and soon became common in New Mexico and across the southwest..  It has traditions deep in many holiday's celebrations and is a long-standing tradition in the Villa.

Supplies were provided last weekend to ensure every household has the opportunity to display 4 (and 8 if you are a corner lot) luminaries on two nights (Dec 24 and Dec 25).  Detailed instructions are in the bag along with sand, bags, and candles.

Thanks to the Harper family for organizing and having a "luminary party" to make the bags, all the volunteers who came out to help make the bags, the boy scouts for delivering the luminaries and Sislers Stone for providing the sand!  http://www.sislersstone.com/

Have a wonderful holiday!

Luminaries -
Luminaries have been a neighborhood tradition for over 40
years!  People used to drive "out to the country" to see our
neighborhood lit by the Luminaries as part of their holiday
celebrations.  We invite you to become a part of this tradition
and display your luminaries. For more information see the
